Three women authors who write in Spanish from the UK you should know
Gaby Sambuccetti is an Argentine born, UK-based writer. She holds a BA in Creative Writing from Brunel University (London) and she is studying a MA Modern Languages, Literature and Culture at King’s College London at which she was awarded the Von Schlippenbach bursary. She is the founder and director of La Ninfa Eco and was the former co-director of events at the Oxford Writers’ House (Oxford). She is the author of The Good, the Bad & the Poet (El Ojo de la Cultura, London). In 2019, she was invited to the House of Lords (UK) to be part of a discussion about writing. Her texts & collaborations appear in different literary projects in Latin America, Europe, Asia, the UK & the US. |
Originally from Buenos Aires and now based in Edinburg, Carolina Orloff is an experienced translator and researcher in Latin American literature, who has published extensively on Julio Cortázar as well as on literature, cinema, politics, and translation theory. In 2016, after obtaining her PhD from the University of Edinburgh and working in the academic sector, Carolina co-founded Charco Press where she acts as publishing director. She is also the co-translator of Jorge Consiglio’s Fate and Ariana Harwicz's Tender, Feebleminded and Die, My Love. This latter title was long listed for the Society of Authors Valle Inclán Prize as well as for the Booker International Prize. Carolina was awarded the ‘Emerging Publisher of the Year (2018)’ prize by the Saltire Society of Scotland.

Adriana Borja Enríquez (Quito, 1990) is a clinical psychologist and writer. International Writing Program Alumni 2018 (The University of Iowa) and Chevening Scholar 2020. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in Gender, Sexuality and Culture at Birkbeck at the University of London.
