The Old dog and the Coyote |
|
Translated by Daniela Villegas
This was an old dog who was no longer wanted by his owner; the dog that was already old and stank, was no longer fed. That dog was sad because they no longer gave him food. He found himself with the Coyote, who asked:
“Why are you sad?”
“I have no food because I am already old. Now I am around here roaming; my owner no longer wants me.”
The coyote told him:
“Give me a turkey. Tonight, I will go looking for him and you will come out and bark and I will abandon him; then you will see that they will feed you.”
Night came and the coyote went to take a turkey and the old dog came out to bark:
“Woof, woof, woof!”
The dog took the turkey from the coyote and then the owner came out:
“Oh, my old dog! He just took the turkey from the coyote! Oh, my old dog! Now give him a thick tortilla! Oh, my old dog!”
