Mayanito's New Friends / Los nuevos amigos de Mayanito
Tato Laviera
Discovered posthumously in Tato Laviera's archives, Mayanito's New Friends / Los Nuevos Amigos de Mayanito is a bilingual children's story about how differences and distances do not stop friendships from blooming. Characters and nature's beauty are brought to life in the vibrant illustrations by Gabhor Utomo. Drops of colorful imagination bring Prince Mayanito to travel far from the mountaintop he calls home, above the clouds, and above the mysterious rainforest's secrets that are soon to take him on an adventure of a lifetime. It is a rainy day filled with magic as his rainbow of friends appear with music from throughout the Americas. But when they evaporate with the sun's warmth, a gutsy Mayanito descends from his home in search for his friends and begins his encounter with the many creatures he befriends in the rainforest. His travels take him through many hurdles with the help of a snake, a crocodile and countless other distinctive characters he crosses paths with. |
The beauty in this tale about camaraderie inspires us to appreciate and embrace the differences between the people that make up our own tribes of friendships and family.
