La noche de los cuerpos
Silvia Favaretto

La noche de los cuerpos is a Spanish poetry book by Silvia Favaretto which includes, just as the title and book cover suggest, poems soaked with ardent passions and shades of darkness. "Este libro es mi ataúd" says the author, as blood drips from the pages with images of open wounds, pain and death.

Throughout the poetry collection the author wishes to disembowel herself with verses that yearn to be free from all things, "descalzo/ con el pelo suelto". Verses that wish to be liberated from personal, social and literary constrains; from beauty, fear, loneliness, and at times, life itself. "Este libro es un recinto lleno/ de espejos rotos/ en el que tengo/ que caminar descalza".

La noche de los cuerpos is a cathartic poetry book where readers become part of an explosive emotional turmoil. A barren darkness one might feel while going through the roughest of times; the brink towards an implosion of oneself only to find out we are still alive, "que esta vez tampoco me muero/ que este goteo ha de tardar/ unas cuantas horas más por lo menos".
Silvia Favaretto (Venice, Italy, 1977) is the director of Progetto 7Lune in Venice; an organization dedicated to promoting Latin American arts and literature.
