The Patagonia Files
Mary Helen Mourra
A new and explosive take on Latin America's greatest challenges through an international legal thriller that exposes today's tragic global issues, including corporate greed, foreign investment, conflicts with indigenous cultures, climate change and environmental devastation. Emmanuelle Solis, a young and attractive lawyer, lands a dream job at an important international legal firm in Washington D.C. Everything seems to be going alright until she finds herself implicated and accused of conspiracy and murder during a case in the Argentine-Chile border. She is now on a hair-raising run, trying to prove her innocence throughout the Patagonia region, while discovering the truth behind the case. What makes the story even more compelling is that the author, Mary Helen Mourra, is in fact an international lawyer and adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law Center, which adds tremendous gravitas to the topics within the plot. As the story describes the influence and impact of powerful people over Latin America, you can't help but wonder where to draw the line between fact and fiction. The Patagonia Files will take the reader on a fascinating and absorbing journey that mirrors real social barriers, in an attempt that we too find the survival we seek within a bigger plot to help preserve mankind as well as our environment. |
