La casa de los secretos is a historical fiction novel by María de Lourdes Victoria which takes place during two crucial time periods in Mexican history, the Mexican-American War and the Mexican Revolution. It is the story of Patricia, a widow who lives in a mansion in the exotic and enchanting state of Oaxaca. Patricia has dedicated herself to her patrimony which is a testament of her family's glorious days and the secrets about her lineage. In a plot full of mystery and twists, the author describes the foods and traditions of Oaxacan society in the late 19th and early 20th centuries including Zapotec customs and people. In La casa de los secretos, the reader will find a time portal into Mexico's bellic past and the intriguing events that are bound to form Patricia's family legacy. María De Lourdes Victoria (Veracruz, Mexico) was a finalist for the Premio Mariposa award in 2006, finalist for the Premio Planeta award in 2010 and received honorary mention in the International Latino Book Awards in 2012.
