Laughing Out Loud, I Fly
Juan Felipe Herrera
Laughing Out Loud, I Fly is a colorful and joyous poetry book that teaches us to "fly towards the good things" in life. This bilingual poetry collection by the U.S. Poet Laureate, Juan Felipe Herrera, brings back childhood rainbows and laughter; it reminds us of mamá, papá, tíos, friends, music, and of course, good food. The pure and wholesome verses create images of tender magic. "Mamá smiles when I call her, she sings, she lifts me, I fly up towards the light & the golden strings". Olmecs, jaguars, maracas, mole, churros and brown children come to life in an atmosphere full of colors only seen in Latino celebrations. Laughing Out Loud, I Fly includes poetry for people of all ages and is sure to bring a smile to the reader. It makes us feel the music, colors and flavors of life, making our hearts and minds take off as we fly into magical places where we are free to laugh out loud. |
