El viejo y el man
Carlos Aguasaco
El viejo y el man is a Spanish realistic fiction novel by Carlos Aguasaco which tells the story of Fidel Castro in his later years. No longer is he the encarnated symbol of power in Cuba, but a mere nostalgic shadow of what he once was. Forgotten by the media and his countless bodyguards, el Comandante finds himself freed of the constant scrutiny, yet caged due to his physically debilitating state. Tired of the enless bedrest, Fidel decides to escape his situation by disguising himself as a tourist and taking a stroll in the streets of Cuba, where he is able to experience and ponder, under a new light, the current state of his beloved revolution. El viejo y el man is a one of a kind novel which takes the reader on an adventure with one of Latin-America's most important revolutionary figures. This compelling story also gives insight to the current state of Cuban life and politics, and promises the reader a new perspective of a man who changed the history of western politics. |
