Reframing the Latino Immigration Debate:
Towards a Humanistic Paradigm
Alvaro Huerta
Reframing the Latino Immigration Debate serves two major purposes: first, to save us from ourselves and secondly, to save us from the anti-Latino crusade we have witnessed this past decade. In order to save us from ourselves we first need to acknowledge who we are, and teach our younger generations to be proud of where we come from. We have to convince ourselves that our past and current social struggles only make us greater victors and more deserving of what we achieve. In order to save us from the current anti-Latino crusade by others, we have to educate ourselves and create experts on the topic in every Latino household who can therefore proactively evangelize other reasonable Americans. |
In this book, Álvaro Huerta fights for the dignity and respect of those who are most vulnerable within our community, not only as an academic but more importantly, as a human being. He fights against anti-immigration and anti-Latino politics head on, and defends our people like David against Goliath. For this reason he deserves nothing less than to be called a true and great Warrior.
The fact is, there are those who are consciously and persistently working against our community's interests. We can no longer be in denial and cannot afford to sit back and wait to see what happens. We must be passionately proactive. Reframing the Latino Immigrant Debate is a call to educate and humanize those around us.
